"One book that I have used with my fifth graders in the past is The Magic Fish by Trung Le Nguyen. It is about a Vietnamese boy and the parallels between his life and those of his refugee parents in relation to childhood fairytales that he and his mother read together. The book deals with sexuality and I let the students lead the conversation in those areas to the extent they are comfortable."
